Course Description

The Welder Trade Practical will assist trainees in obtaining an international equivalency standard, allowing their skill proficiency and competency to be recognized across the globe, while also expanding the scope of prior learning recognition and providing opportunities for lifelong learning and skill development. Students will also have the chance to foster lifelong learning and skill development.

This course illuminates the Induction training and welding process, Welding techniques, Weldability of steel, Inspection and testing, Gas metal arc welding, Gas tungsten arc welding, Plasma arc cutting and resistance welding, Repair and maintenances.

✔ Setting of oxy-acetylene welding

✔ Circular gas cutting by profile cutting machine

✔ Identification of gas cutting defeats

✔ Testing of weld joint by visual inspection

✔ Inspection of welds using weld gauges

✔ Dye penetrant test

✔ Setting up of GMAW welding machine

✔ Depositing bead on S.S sheet in flat position

✔ Butt joint on stainless steel 2mm thick sheet in flat position by dip transfer

✔ Plasma straight cutting on ferrous and non-ferrous metal

✔ Lap joint on M.S resistance spot welding

✔ Brazing on copper tube to tube

✔ Nick-break test

✔ Fillet fracture test
